nobilia's history began in Germany in 1945 with one family, a rented workshop and a team of seven. Eighty years later, the company remains family-owned and its production remains firmly rooted in Germany.

Brothers Johann and Willy Stickling establish a joinery in Avenwedde, Germany, producing sewing-machine cabinets and small furniture in a rented hall. By the end of the first year, the workforce has grown to seven.

To mark the company's 25th anniversary, Plant I is built on a 51,000 m² site in Verl-Sürenheide, and Heinz and Werner Stickling assume management.
